Waverider sees a possible future for Superman, one where, after an incident with Lois Lane-Kent, he banishes himself from Earth and encounters Maxima in “Beyond the Reach of Time.”
Waverider tests Superman in an alternate future to see if he will become Monarch. In this timeline Superman marries Lois, only to have her die in child birth. Feeling completely alone he leaves the planet and finds himself on Almerac, where Maxima wants to try and win him as a mate.
